This is a walking tour app commissioned by Sheffield Libraries. It takes users on a heritage tour around the historic footballing hot spots that shaped not just Sheffield football but football worldwide.
The app guides users along the 4.7 mile route. GPS triggering shows users relevant content at each of the points of interest.
An interesting feature of this app is that users can see their location in the context of an 1855 map of Sheffield, so they can get a better sense of what Sheffield was like at the time.
It includes a full audio commentary, recorded by Sheffield actor Roger Bingham.
The app was launched on 22nd April 2018, with a walking tour event organised by Sheffield Libraries. Over 70 people did the full walk, stopping at the Town Hall halfway, and finishing at Highfields Library for a Q&A session.
Over 70 people attended the launch event, despite rather inclement weather at kick-off!
Half-time oranges were provided by the Lord Mayor at Sheffield Town Hall.
Slightly peculiar sight of group of app users blocking the street.
