Central Library – Surrey Street

Sheffield’s Central Library was lucky to survive the first night of the Blitz, though even today it still bears internal scars in its structure from the bombing.

The library became the central help point for anyone that had lost loved ones or lost their homes with thousands of people descending on it following the attacks.
