The Sheffield Jewish Heritage Walking Trail is a cross-disciplinary project, combining cultural, performance and heritage studies to unveil the city’s Jewish heritage. Approaches used in the project include creative walking, musical responses to narratives and place, archival research into the community’s past and interviews with members of the city’s Jewish community.
The Jewish Heritage Walking Trail app
This project has unearthed and made visible some of the unique stories and music of Sheffield’s Jewish communities, who had a determining impact on the city from as early as the 18th century. The app presents this information through an immersive walking trail including audio, image and text to explore the contribution of the Jewish community to the development and history of the city.
As well as supporting the app development, Llama Digital has also built the Jewish Heritage Sheffield website, and designed promotional postcards for the app.
